problem: notes, pdfs, and saved pages pile up in a dozen folders, and the hosted tools that could search them want the files uploaded first.
ingestion: a file watcher picks up anything new or changed, splits it into passages, and embeds them into chromadb. deleting a file removes its passages, so the index never answers from something that's gone.
answers: search and chat agents retrieve passages by meaning and answer with ollama on the same machine, citing the files they read from.
the rule: nothing leaves the machine. no api keys, no uploads, and it works on a plane.
